Winter 2025 RV Trip
Debi and I decided to take a 6-week RV trip at the end of 2025. It was cold and rainy for the first part of our trip, so I didn't take many pictures. By the time the weather got nice again, I just wasn't in the mood for pictures. We visited with our old friends Don and Lauren Moriarty in DeRidder, Louisiana before spending Christmas in New Orleans.
We took a paddlewheel riverboat dinner cruise on the City of New Orleans that included live jazz music from the John Mahoney Little Band.
Our visit to New Orleans included a tour of the renowned Honey Island Swamp with Cajun Encounters. We glided through gator territory aboard a small, flat-bottomed boat, while our local expert captains share fascinating insights about the swamp and its natural inhabitants.
After Christmas, we took a city and cemetery tour of New Orleans with Cajun Encounters. St. Louis Cemetery is one of New Orleans' most famous and historic burial grounds. Known for its above-ground tombs and elaborate mausoleums, it offers a unique glimpse into the city's past.
Of course, we had beignets and coffee at Café du Monde, a New Orleans institution since 1862. Café du Monde is renowned for its iconic beignets and rich coffee. Located in the French Quarter, this open-air café offers a quintessential taste of the city.
We ate lots of great cajun food in the French Quarter, took a stroll down Bourbon Street, and shopped at the French Market.
We spent New Year's Eve in Rickwood Caverns State Park just north of Birmingham, Alabama. There were only 3 other campers in the park, so it was a quiet evening.
